Security gates approved at Hull's Guildhall

Councillors have approved plans for gates.

Hull's councillors have approved plans to install £250,000 security gates at the Guildhall.

Automatic entry gates and railings at both ends of Hanover Square will be installed.

Councillor Daren Hale, Portfolio Holder for Property and Assets, said: “As per Government guidance to public bodies on security and anti-terrorist procedures, the council has a duty to review its security arrangements. This application follows this review. The council remains committed to the Guildhall being a public building and, as such, it is also used as a registry office and events venue and we will continue to try to balance security needs with public use of our sites.”
