Plans to expand foodbank service to Goole and Hessle

Plans have been revealed to expand the East Yorkshire Foodbank into Hessle and Goole.

It currently operates in Beverley, handing out food parcels to 60 to 70 people every week.

A 200 club which the group is running to make it sustainable currently covers half the running costs.

When it's fully sustainable, sustainable development manager Richard Newby says they'll look to expand in the East Riding.

He says: "There's certainly a need across the East Riding because the agencies we work is tell us there is. Certainly places like Goole have large areas of poverty and Hessle as well has areas that do use our services."
