Residents in East Yorkshire have until noon today, to have their say on whether businesses are charged for false alarms to Humberside Fire and Rescue.
The service receives 1,400 automatic fire alarm activations - in 86% of cases there ends up being no fire.
Steve Duffield, head of public safety, says they're looking to engage with businesses, so they can make changes to their practices to prevent false alarms.
He added that it's in both of their best interests, and it's not about making money.
