Dozens sleeping outside in Hull to raise awareness of homelessness

Dozens of people are sleeping rough tonight to raise money and awareness for homelessness in the city.

The Sleep Easy Night will see volunteers build their own shelters in the grounds of Wilberforce College.

The event, which is put on by the YMCA Humber and other local partners, has raised over 150-thousand pounds in the last ten years.

Debbie Cook is their chief executive. She says: "It's going to be really cold, but obviously we can all go home to a warm bed, and the people who are homeless in this area can't. In the last 12 months YMCA Humber have provided over 34,000 nights of accommodation across our three projects to people who otherwise would be homeless."
