Rob was born in, grew up in and was 'educated' in East Yorkshire.
His interest in radio started with a chance meeting with a Hospital Radio mobile DJ whilst at his Uncle's 60th birthday do. Rob, being the sociable family person he is, spent virtually all of his time talking to the DJ than to his family! After that came Hospital Radio, possibly the best launchpad for anyone wanting to get into presenting.
His working life started with British Rail as a friendly pen-pusher, moving on to ticket office clerk (including time as a train announcer along the way - so you can see where the radio thing started to gain momentum). The smell of diesel eventually became too much and the lure of a job on the radio was irresistible.
Rob's journey to KCFM 99.8 has found him working locally at Viking FM / Magic 1161, Century 106 (Nottingham, Derby & Leicester), Ocean FM (Hampshire & Sussex), Lincs FM / Compass FM (Lincolnshire), Trax FM (Doncaster), Ridings FM (Wakefield) and Yorkshire Coast Radio (Bridlington, Scarborough & Whitby).
Birthday: 18th April
Birthplace: Beverley Westwood - in the hospital, not with the cattle!
Favourite Artist: Evelyn King
Favourite Song: Love Come Down
Favourite Film: Up The Junction - nothing like a bit of gritty 60's life (Alfie Bass and Suzie Kendall were brilliant)
What's your most embarrassing moment on air?
Taking a station off-air when I went to the loo to put some Red Nose Day 'tattoos' on my face...it's complicated!!
Which is your song at karaoke?
The one that allows the DJ time to mute the speakers before I start singing
What's your biggest fashion mistake?
Dare I admit this...a tie-dyed hooded top with dungarees (it was an early 90's thing, honest guv)
What would go in your Room 101?
People playing ringtones on their mobile VERY loudly and publicly, cauliflower cheese and dungarees
What's your perfect night out?
A few drinks, then on to a top club playing soul/disco tunes and dancing my heart out!
Most annoying habit?
Always saying I'll do something 'in a minute'!
If I wasn't working for KCFM, what would you do?
Be a train driver
