Biography
One of five children, Alex was brought up in Ferriby by parents, Peter and Julia. School wasn’t his thing and he left at 16 to work at the Hull Daily Mail.

A big England as well as City fan, Alex has been to World Cups and European Championships in England, Italy, France, Belgium, Japan and Germany.

Alex’s journalistic experience includes researching and writing previews for many Yorkshire teams for the Ceefax/Teletext service, as well as writing a column for an independent local newspaper. He is also a regular interviewer, and the narrator for The Tigers monthly City Magazine DVD.

His break in radio came when a local station advertised for fans to report on games from a fans perspective. He went for what amounted to an audition at Boothferry Park, and got the gig, despite never really having had an interest in radio.

After three and a bit years, another local radio station, asked him to switch sides. He covered several games involving Scunthorpe and Grimsby (shhh!) before being asked to take over as Hull City commentator. He followed City through the dark days, the threats of going bust, being locked out of Boothferry Park etc. Exciting times, but for all the wrong reasons.

After Adam Pearson’s takeover a period of unprecedented success ensued. Alex has been involved with City through several chairmen, more than one owner, numerous players, and has an unrivalled insight into the club’s recent history.
