Rovers Head Coach Justin Morgan said patience and determination won his side the 204th Hull Derby at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff .

Morgan stated - “Even though we sucked a lot of petrol out of the tank they lifted their chins off the floor and defended repeated sets, making it a tough and exciting clash.”

Adding – “To our players’ credit they showed a huge amount of courage and determination, we had plenty of ball, and we should have looked for a few better decisions with ball in hand, but we kept our composure for the entire 80 minutes, and that is all I asked of the boys."

After a strong start by Hull FC, Rovers had the better of the match in the second half and ran out 22-17 winners thanks to a 76th minute try by Jake Webster.

The news ended speculation that Hall would be leaving to join another club, including Hull KR who were being linked to the promising young centre.

Hall declared - “This is the club I have always wanted to play for. I am confident we will be a force in the game. We have some good players here and we also have some good youngsters like me who will only improve and get better with experience.”

Reacting to the news, Black & Whites coach Peter Sharp added - “This is excellent news for us because Craig is without question a rare talent. He is such an exciting prospect and, although he is still learning and has parts of his game still to improve he can do things others can’t. Having Craig on board for at least another two years is a big bonus for the club.”

Their position could have been even better but for injury time goals from both Bristol City and West Bromwich Albion.

They have a week off now, as their scheduled game against Barnsley was re-arranged following the Oakwell club's progression to the FA Cup semi final.

LATE CALDERWOOD TRY BREAKS ROVERS RESOLVE

Calderwood scored with the game level at 12 all to shatter KR's hopes of at least a point at the JJB, having come from 10-0 down to lead midway through the second half.

Wigan got their lead in the first half through a brace from Liam Colbon and one conversion by Pat Richards.

But Hull KR responded in the second half as Chev Walker and Clint Newton scored two tries in quick succession, with Paul Cooke converting both to establish a 12-10 lead.

Richards then goaled a penalty to set up the grandstand finale which went Wigan's way after Calderwood's late clincher. Richard Garcia made room on the right hand side to clip a near post ball to Campbell, who reached the byline and pulled it back. The ball deflected to Marney ten yards out, and he a firm shot into the ground and over the stranded Henderson into the net.

City dominated the second half, with Leicester restricted to half-chances and wayward long range efforts. Tigers skipper Ian Ashbee, injured during a melee in the first half, succumbed to his ankle knock after 53 minutes and was replaced by Simon Walton.

Campbell was then put through by Marney on the corner of the box and was bundled down by the sprawling Henderson inside the box. The penalty was given, but Henderson redeemed himself by saving Marney's spot kick to his right.

Brown then sent on Folan with just under 20 minutes left and, like at Colchester in midweek, the million pound striker made an instant impact, chasing a through-ball from Walton and sliding an awkward shot across Henderson into the far corner, easing the tension among the City fans and sending them into raptures.

City played out the remaining minutes and, with all results going their way again, now find themselves third; two points behind Bristol City and one behind Stoke. The Tigers could go top of the Championship with a win over Watford at the KC next Saturday.

WEBSTER KICK GIVES ROVERS BRAGGING RIGHTS

The scrum half goaled a low 78th minute kick as KR put late pressure on Hull FC, who had managed to come back from 10-0 down to level up.

The 11-10 final score took Rovers into fourth place in Super League before the other fixtures of Good Friday had been completed, while Hull stayed in the bottom three.

In blustery conditions with the occasional swirling hailstorm, Rovers were quickest out of the blocks, scoring the only try of the first half as Jake Webster's interception took him into the corner.

Paul Cooke, making his long-awaited return as stand-off after suspension, added the conversion.

The second half was dominated by the weather and both sides made numerous handling and kicking mistakes, and FC's Danny Tickle failed with a relatively simple penalty as the hail and rain blew straight into him as he approached the kick, which hit the post.

Soon after, Daniel Fitzhenry charged into the corner after patient build-up play, and although Cooke missed the extras - again the conditions made the kick more difficult - a 10-point lead had been established as the second half wore on.

Tickle finally got the visitors back into the game with an opportunist try but again struck the post with his conversion, but he finally made a kick count, crucially, when he found the target after Kirk Yeaman's try to make the scores level with ten minutes left.

Neither side looked likely to add another touchdown as they tired on the heavy Craven Park surface, but enough space was made to feed scrum half Webster, whose angled drop was just high enough to clear the cross bar and earn Rovers a big victory.

Rovers now visit Wigan Warriors on Easter Monday in a 3pm kick off at the JJB, two hours after Hull FC's game against Leeds Rhinos gets underway at the KC.

The next derby game will be during Millennium Magic in the first weekend of May.

CAMPBELL SCORES TWICE AS TIGERS CRUSH COLCHESTER

Campbell, who had just received news of his first England under 21 call-up, responded in style by scoring two in the first half.

By the time he struck his first after good work from Dean Windass, the home side were already down to ten men - Paul Ifill seeing red for a clumsy challenge on City's man of the moment.

Campbell fired home his second following a break involving Dean Marney and Henrik Pedersen, although the U's, the Championship's bottom side, hit back immediately with a shot from Kevin Lisbie to make it 2-1.

City weathered some pressure from the ten men in the second half, and Michael Turner hit the bar with a header from a corner, before sub Caleb Folan made it safe in the 87th minute, scoring from Marney's sublime pass.

There was time for City and ex-Colchester winger Richard Garcia to hit the bar with a long range shot in injury time.

City remain fifth but now level on points with fourth-placed West Brom.

Danny Fitzhenry scored twice on a foggy evening at Craven Park as Hull KR returned to winning ways in Super League.

A scintillating second half display from Hull City destroyed Southampton at the KC and took the Tigers into fifth place in the Championship.

Fraizer Campbell opened the scoring early on, running on to Dean Marney's sublime pass to glide the ball home.

Henrik Pedersen and Michael Turner scored in quick succession in the second half - a second scoring game at the KC for each - before Marney clattered home a fantastic fourth from 25 yards.

Sub Bryan Hughes completed the scoring in injury time with his first goal for the Tigers.

It was City's first 5-goal victory since the 6-1 defeat of Tranmere in 2004/05, and the first 5-0 win for more than twenty years.

It leaves Brown with a selection dilemma ahead of Tuesday's rearranged trip to Colchester, as record signing Caleb Folan and playmaker Jay Jay Okocha are both available after three-match suspensions.

It's City's first win over Southampton since promotion to the Championship, and acted as a sweet response to the 4-0 thrashing in December at St Mary's.

A first minute goal from Stephen McPhail gave FA Cup semi-finalists Cardiff a win over Hull City at Ninian Park.

City struggled to make clear cut chances despite the majority of possession, with Henrik Pedersen and Andy Dawson both seeing chances blocked in the first half.

Late in the game Myhill made a stunning close-range save from Steven Thompson's header.

City boss Phil Brown could now be without Wayne Brown for the weekend game against Southampton, after the centre back limped off in the first half. He was replaced by Neil Clement, who could now start the game at the KC versus the Saints.
Further opportunities for Richard Garcia and Fraizer Campbell were also wasted.

In the second half, Folan headed over from sub Ryan France's cross and Jay Jay Okocha, who also came off the bench, hit the side netting, before Campbell smacked the post in the last minute of normal time after good work from France and Folan.

It's City's first defeat in six and only their second of 2008, but their game in hand remains and they can still puncture the top six if they win it. Their next game is at home to in-form Burnley on Tuesday night, when Turner will be restored to the defence.

Bristol City went top of the Championship with this victory, a place they maintained after Stoke City's 3-0 defeat at QPR 24 hours later.

DROP GOAL DENIES KR AMAZING COMEBACK

Michael Monaghan scored the drop goal during the second half, by which time Hull KR had reduced the deficit to 28-18.

Warrington trampled all over the Robins in the opening 20 minutes with tries from Chris Hicks (2), Martin Gleason, Paul Johnson and Ben Westwood.

Rovers responded after an inspiring team talk from Justin Morgan at the break, and Ben Cockayne, Ben Fisher, Kris Welham and Daniel Fitzhenry all scoring, with Scott Murrell kicking four goals.

Monaghan's drop amid the comeback kept the points for Warrington.

Rovers now have a week off as Leeds Rhinos are in World Club Challenge action this weekend, which necessitated the bringing forward of the planned Headingley fixture to February 2.

FOLAN STRIKE EARNS TIGERS BIG WIN AT WEST BROM

Against the favourites for the Championship title, City took the game to Albion at the Hawthorns and Folan's late strike from 25 yards secured a famous and significant victory.

City, playing with an adventurous 4-4-2 which included Jay Jay Okocha in midfield behind two strikers, took the lead thanks to a fantastic curling shot from Fraizer Campbell.

Roman Bednar equalised before half time for the Baggies, and both sides had chances to win it before record signing Folan sent the large travelling contingent into raptures with the winner.

Zoltan Gera missed an open goal in the last minute, and City hung on for a win which leaves them well-placed in eighth position, with a game in hand over most fo the sides above them.

Their next match is away to more high-fliers -

Hull City left Carrow Road last night with a point in the bag after a one-all draw against Norwich.

The Canaries took the lead with a goal from Dion Dublin but Frazer Campbell scored for Hull in the 53rd minute to make it one-all.

the manchester united loan star's seventh goal for the Tigers leaves them unebaten in their last four games.

The Robins romped through the first half, leading 16 nil at the break.

The City keeper missed his punch thanks to the flick on from the brave Burgess, and Dickov rose to head the ball into the unguarded net.

Early in the second half, Myhill was caught off his line after Dickov forced a rare flap from City defender Michael Turner, though his instant lob was brilliantly executed.

Phil Brown brought on Folan and shifted Campbell wide, and the two combined immediately as Campbell wriggled free down the inside left channel and crossed low for Folan to steer home.

Ten minutes later, Sam Ricketts sent over an awkward cross which beat Blackpool keeper Paul Rachubka and touched the bar on its way down. The ball could have already crossed the line but Windass made sure and was later credited with the goal, making it a dozen for the season.

The Seasiders had Kaspers Gorkss sent off for his second bookable offence and felt some intense City pressure in the last 20 minutes, but hung on for a point.

Defeat for Ipswich meant that City's point took them level with the Portman Road club, who are sixth, and Crystal Palace, although the Tigers have a game in hand. They remain in eighth place on goal difference and travel to an in-form Norwich City on Tuesday night.

Hughes was later able to return to the KC Stadium after the match, having been knocked out cold on the pitch. Brown selected Ryan France for his first Championship start in 12 months in place of Richard Garcia, who was absent on compassionate grounds.

AIRLIE BIRDS LOSE OPENER AT WARRINGTON

Warrington ran in five tries as they stayed ahead of Hull in a high-scoring Super League match at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

Chris Bridge scored the first of his two tries to put the home side ahead, and a second was added by Chris Hicks, before Craig Hall got Peter Sharp's men off the mark after a long kick from Danny Washbrook.

Vinnie Anderson and Matt King, the latter with a run of half the pitch, put Warrington further ahead but Hull stayed in touch before the break with Hall's second.

It was always a game of catch-up for the Airlie Birds, and the game was up when Ben Westwood scored in the second half, with Bridge adding his second. Graeme Horne scored the last try of the match for Hull, for whom Danny Tickle goaled all four conversions, but it wasn't enough.

Hull's next match is against Harlequins at the KC on Sunday 17th.

Windass was again partnered by Fraizer Campbell up front, with Tuesday's hero Caleb Folan again only featuring on the bench. Henrik Pedersen was a surprise started at left back after Andy Dawson was also struck down by illness.

City are now a heady eighth in the Championship, just one point off the play-offs and with a game in hand. Both sides were stunted in attack and therefore not stretched in defence, and rarely did either keeper need to make a save.

Bryan Hughes waltzed through three challenges early on to set up a half chance but couldn't direct his shot far enough away from Konstantopoulos.

Fraizer Campbell had a goal ruled out for offside in the second half, while Boaz Myhill made a good save from Michael Mifsud's volley.

City, who spent last week warm-weather training in Dubai, are 11th in the Championship table but with a game in hand on every team above them, and a win in their spare match could take them into the play-off spots.

Phil Brown gave a debut to loan signing Simon Walton in place of the unwell Ian Ashbee, while Henrik Pedersen returned from injury to make a second half substitute appearance.

It was City's first win of 2008, having only played two previous Championship matches since the turn of the year - the 1-1 draw at Stoke and the 3-1 home defeat by West Brom. However, with police forces needing ten days' notice for a fixture, it is more likely to be re-arranged for a Tuesday night in February or March.

If so, it means that the Tigers will have gone 17 days without a game by the time they line up at the KC against Coventry City in the Championship on January 29th.

BAGGIES END TIGERS UNBEATEN RUN

A second minute goal by Kevin Phillips and a 93rd minute clincher by Roman Bednar were the key factors in West Bromwich Albion's 3-1 win over Hull City in front of the Sky cameras.

Phillips tucked home a simple finish from a fine through ball by Chris Brunt, who had broken clear moments after City had a penalty claim turned down.

City battled back with chances for Caleb Folan, Ian Ashbee and Richard Garcia, but another slick passing move ended with James Morrison putting the visitors two up just before the half hour.

In the second half, a revived City dominated the game and Garcia curled in a cracking goal to reduce the deficit, after which the visitors were further hit when defender Paul Robinson received a red card for a second bookable offence.

Numerous set-pieces and crosses were fired into the Albion box as City sought an equaliser, with the team featuring Folan, Fraizer Campbell and Nick Barmby all up front, alongside defender Michael Turner, who had been sent upfield to provide further aerial threat.

Ultimately it be to no avail, and Albion broke in the 93rd minute from a long clearance and substitute Bednar, on loan from Hearts, rifled in a third via Boaz Myhill's left hand to seal the win.

It's City's first Championship loss since the 4-0 horror show at Southampton on December 8th, and their first at home since Charlton's rough-house win in the first week of October.

In restoring many first-choice players after picking a second-string side in the FA Cup last week, Phil Brown selected Dean Windass despite Campbell's return from injury, while Damien Delaney stayed at left back due to Andy Dawson dropping out with illness.

Dean Marney and Ian Ashbee resumed their midfield partnership which had been first choice until just before Christmas, while Ryan France came off the bench to play his first City game in the League since a knee ligament injury against, ironically, West Brom eleven months earlier.

City's next game is away to bottom club Colchester United next Saturday, meaning a return to their old stamping ground for Garcia and Wayne Brown, both of whom came to the KC from Layer Road in the summer.

DEANO DOUBLE NOT ENOUGH FOR TIGERS

In a Devonian downpour, substitute Dean Windass nearly rescued Hull City from an embarrassing early FA Cup exit after scoring twice at Home Park.

Sadly, the Tigers couldn't quite get the leveller their second half performance deserved.

Plymouth scored twice before the break thanks to Abdou and Halmosi, as a City side of second-stringers struggled to get involved.

But the half-time introduction of Windass and fellow sub Richard Garcia turned the tie, with Windass pulling a goal back within 60 seconds of the game restarting.

Plymouth made it 3-1 through Ebanks-Blake before Windass bent in a gorgeous free kick to make it 3-2 with half an hour still to play.

The home side hit the post while Windass came close to his hat-trick and Garcia and Michael Turner both saw chances saved.

It means that next season will mark 20 years since the Tigers last reached the fourth round, although many of those years were spent in the lower divisions and meant a first round start in the competition.

Manager Phil Brown recalled Stuart Elliott, Nathan Doyle, Damien Delaney, Nick Barmby and Dean Marney to his starting XI, while there were first run-outs of the season for Ryan France and Sam Collins, both of whom have completed their recovery after long-term injuries.

It means that John Welsh, who is currently on loan to League Two side Chester after regaining his fitness following a serious leg fracture, is the only Tigers first-teamer yet to appear in a senior game for the club this season.

City return to League action next week with the visit of Championship favourites West Bromwich Albion to the KC. The kick off is at 5.20pm, due to television coverage.

FOLAN HEADER EARNS TIGERS A POINT

Caleb Folan scored an equaliser for the Tigers on 61 minutes at the Britannia when he glanced home a centre from the recalled Dean Windass.

Stoke had been in front since just before the break when ex-Tigers defender Leon Cort touched home an awkward long throw.

The first half was a tight affair, but City had the better of it after the break, and Windass, back in the starting XI due to Fraizer Campbell's hamstring injury, could have put his side 2-1 up when his looping header hit the crossbar.

Richard Garcia's long range shot was pushed wide by Steve Simonsen, while Stoke's best opportunites were all in the first half. Boaz Myhill saved brilliantly from Liam Lawrence's piledriver and ex-Tiger Jon Parkin's cross shot.

City have picked up eight points from the 12 available over the holiday period and are now unbeaten in five.
Hull City rounded off 2007 in style with a 1-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday at the KC Stadium.

Dean Windass scored the only goal of the game after the half hour mark - a blistering free kick from thirty yards out.

Caleb Folan and Ian Ashbee also went close for the Tigers who are now 8th in the Championship and still unbeaten over the holiday period.

The Owls did have their chances, with Akpo Sodje hit the inside of the post and Bo Myhill denying Francis Jeffers late on.

But the Tigers held on to claim their third win in four games and move to within a point of the playoffs.

GARCIA AND CAMPBELL KEEP WOLVES FROM THE DOOR

Richard Garcia belted home a low shot via the legs of keeper Wayne Hennessey fewer than two minutes into the second half at the KC Stadium to put the Tigers in front after an even first half.

Fraizer Campbell then scored in his third consecutive match when he pounced on a narrow-angled rebound after Garcia's diving header had been parried by Hennessey.

Wolves looked useful in a tight opening spell, but were never in the game in the second half, and the win gives City their first double over Wolves in 17 years.

Tigers boss Phil Brown picked an unchanged starting XI from the one which got a 1-1 draw at Charlton at the weekend.

Skipper Ian Ashbee was withdrawn late on with a shin injury but is expected to be fit for Sunday's lunchtime game against Sheffield Wednesday at the KC.

MILLS SPITS DUMMY OUT AS TIGERS EARN POINT

Danny Mills received a straight red card for dissent in the second half a keenly-contested Championship battle at the Valley after the referee had decided not to award a foul when the ex-Tigers defender fell dramatically under a challenge from Caleb Folan.

It turned the tables on the controversial ex-England full back, whose verbal interference was seen as a big factor in Tigers captain Ian Ashbee's dismissal when the two teams met at the KC earlier this season.

City were the better team, with Fraizer Campbell giving them the lead shortly before the break, only for Madjid Bougherra to equalise in the second half.

Campbell started in place of the suspended Dean Windass, while a late injury scare prompted the withdrawal from the squad of Dean Marney, with David Livermore taking his place in midfield.

Also back was Nick Barmby, who came off the bench for the last period of the game and almost snatched an injury time winner.

FOLAN FIRES TIGERS BACK ON FORM

Caleb Folan bagged his first goal for the club since his million pound move in the Summer to see the Tigers rise to 13th in the Championship.

The former Wigan man pounced on Dean Windass's throughball to make it one-nil.

It was an eventful game for Windass who was fouled by former French international Bruno N'Gotty to give City a penalty.

His spot kick was saved but sub Fraizer Campbell tapped home the rebound.

The Black-&-Amber have now put their run of 4 games without a win behind them but Leicester have now picked up 2 points from a possible 18.

WAITING GAME FOR TIGERS

Hull are sweating on the fitness of 3 key players ahead of their game aganist Leicester tomorrow.

Michael Turner and Fraizer Campbell didn't train yesterday and are major doubts as is Jay-Jay Okocha after he could only complete a light session.

If Campbell's still crocked then it means Dean Windass and Caleb Folan will play together for only the third time this season.

If Turner doesn't make it then it could be 2 from Sam Collins, Nathan Doyle and Andy Dawson at the back for City. Damien Delaney's out suspended.

Phil Brown may also shake up his midfield after experimenting with a diamond formation in the defeat at Southampton.

And you can hear if the Foxes can be out smarted on Hull City Live with Alex Burgess from 1.15 tomorrow

Patrick Agyemang gave the home side the lead on the hour, firing home a fine shot after good work from sub Paul Gallagher.

Simon Whaley scored the second eight minutes later, and sub Lewis Neal scored the third late on via the crossbar to complete a resounding win for the Lilywhites, conclusively avenging the 3-0 defeat at the KC Stadium last month.

City were the better side prior to half time, with Caleb Folan hitting the post in a dominant display.

But although the Tigers could still have taken a second half lead when Steve McPhee's shot was saved by Andy Lonergan, the home side stepped up a gear as City totally crumbled in the final half hour, ending their sequence of five unbeaten.

Phil Brown only made one change to the starting line-up, with Folan replacing veteran Dean Windass, but more changes could now be in the offing for the long journey to Southampton at the weekend.

LATE CARDIFF LEVELLER DENIES TIGERS

Centre back Roger Johnson's 93rd minute shot snatched a deserved point for Cardiff at the KC.

The Tigers went ahead early on as Steve McPhee lashed home a cross from Richard Garcia after just two minutes.

But City looked vulnerable in defence instantly, and Steve Thompson sent a low shot past Boaz Myhill for an equaliser shortly afterwards.

A foul on Fraizer Campbell then gave the Tigers an ideal chance to restore the lead, but Kasper Schmeichel saved the penalty from Dean Windass low to his right.

Still, City did go in at the break with a 2-1 lead thanks to a fine volley from Garcia after Schmeichel had mishandled a Damien Delaney cross.

Cardiff had the better of the second half but the Tigers clung on until Johnson's late, late leveller.

CITY CONTINUE UNBEATEN STREAK

It was the first time in forty seven years the two sides had met at this level, but The Irons could only manage a consolation goal in reply to a brace from dean windass.

It'll be a boost for Phil Brown's side ahead of Tuesday's crucial encounter with third placed Bristol City.

Overall the City manager was impressed with the performance.

Hull City go in to Saturday's Humber Derby with only 2 players on the treatment table.

Nick Barmby's still recovering from knee surgery and Henrik Pedersen's definiely out after hobbling off in the reserves in mid-week.

The results of a scan have confirmed the damage isn't as bad as the medical team first feared but he'll still be out of action.

But Record signing Caleb Folan will travel across the river and is pushing for a recall to the squad.

Wayne Brown's trained this week after his calf strain and should play.

Richard Garcia 's back after returning from Australia for family reasons.

And Sam Ricketts's fitness will be assessed in training after returning from international duty.

But there's also some bad news for the Tigers - they've been handed a six-thousand pound fine for their part in the fracas against Charlton at the KC last month.

The Addicks have also been given the same punishment.
Ashbee got a straight red card for the tackle and Sam for retaliation. Ashbee was seen to exchange words with ex-City loanee Danny Mills, now back at Charlton, and occupants of the Charlton technical area as he headed for the tunnel.

The second half remained tense as City pursued an equaliser with little luck. As more men were pushed forward in pursuit of a goal, Charlton managed to exploit the gaps left at the back, and Chris Iwelumo - scorer of four goals for Colchester in a 5-1 win over the Tigers last season - steered a shot past Myhill in the 89th minute, cueing wild celebrations on the Charlton bench.

Immediately, sub Steve McPhee swiped home a clever shot from a Hughes centre - his first League goal for the Tigers after two years of trying - but despite five minutes of injury time which was prolonged further by more injuries, City couldn't equalise.

Afterwards, Phil Brown questioned Charlton's sportsmanship during a live interview on KCFM. Hear what the City manager felt about the defeat on today's sports bulletins.

City survived the stomach bug scare which engulfed several members of the first team, with Ashbee and Richard Garcia able to play despite feeling the symptoms in the previous 24 hours. The training ground has been closed as a temporary and precautionary measure.

Ashbee is now banned for three matches for violent conduct, starting with Saturday's trip to London to face Crystal Palace, managed by former Tigers boss Peter Taylor and featuring ex-City stars Leon Cort and Stuart Green. The captain's absence will almost certainly mean a starting role for David Livermore in the City midfield, while centre back Wayne Brown will wear the armband.

HULL FC REMAIN TIGHT LIPPED ON SIGNINGS
