Both firms are struggling because of rising operating costs and fuel bills.

Stagecoach added ten pence to every one of it's fares this weekend in a bid to meet the costs.

EYMS boss Peter Ship told KCFM it was almost innevitable the East Yorkshire firm wouild have to raise it's own prices by an average of 5% by the end of the month.

He stressed some routes would be less effected and that rising passenger numbers had staved off the need for an ever bigger hike.

He also said the rises wouldn't affect the company's ability to meet the government's commitment to free travel for the elderley.

But he did say the increasing cost to the companies would be passed on to local authorities who pick up the tab for bus passes.

The floods in Hull and East Yorkshire have added to a national trend which has seen people try and combine the costs of living and caring for elderley relatives.

Research shows many children in Hull and East Yorkshire feel they're often in danger and they're worried about their safety.

Part of it's aim is to tell kids about the real dfdangers of acrrying a knife as protection.

Youth Worker with RAPP, Chris Lenny told KCFM as many as 60 to 70 percent of kids in the region have admitted to carrying a weapon.

Its been reported we're one of the cleanest regions in the UK.

A pensioner has died in a House Fire in Hull.

The blaze on Hemswell Avenue started at around 7am this morning.

Emergency services were called to the scene shortly after.

It's emerged the Fire Service visited the mans home on several occasions in the past to fit smoke alarms to try and reduce the risk of fire.

The smoke alarms went off this morning but the man was unable to get out.

Glen Ramsden from Humberside Fire and Rescue told KCFM his collegues did all they could to save the pensioners life.

Police investigating the blaze say they're not treating it as suspicious and are still working out what caused the fire.

Tony Blair saw his first Commons defeat when he tried to extend the pre-charge detention period for terror suspects.

He wanted it raised from twenty-eight to ninety days.

His successor - who's pressing for a six week limit - could suffer the same fate.

Enough Labour rebels look likely to scupper the plan.
