More new signings for the Stingrays

Local players agree deals.

Hull Stingrays have signed Andy Ward and Sam Towner on two-way deals for the 2012/13 Elite League campaign.

The British pair, who have been part of the junior development system at Hull Arena, will continue to play for the English National League side as well as icing for Stingrays, for whom they made a few appearances last term.

Hull-born Ward, played for the U14’s and U16’s but then took time out of the game to focus on his studies. He returned to play recreational hockey before being asked to ice for the ENL team last seaso,n having been approached by Bobby McEwan, who is also head coach of Junior Development.

Towner, 17, has featured for the U16’s, U18’s and Kingston Jets and joined Ward in being promoted to the Stingrays roster for a few games last season.
