John Prescott fought off competition from Keith Hunter to stand for the new police commissioner role

John Prescott has won the Labour vote to compete for the post of Humberside's police and crime commisioner.

Party members chose the former MP for Hull East over Keith Hunter, who previously held the position of senior officer at Humberside Police.

Lord Prescott will compete for the role with East Riding Councillor Matthew Grove, who's the only Conservative candidate so far.

Elections take place in November.
