New review into closure of Leeds Children's Heart Surgery unit welcomed

Closure would mean families travelling to Newcastle or Liverpool for treatment

Save Our Surgery has welcomed a new review into the proposed closure of the Leeds children's heart surgery unit.

If the West Yorkshire facility were to close, families from East Yorkshire would have to travel upto a hundred and fifty miles to Newcastle or Liverpool for treatment.

Sharon Cheng from the campaign group says:

"This is about families travelling further for less of a service and more people in this region being disadvantaged. It's just wholly unacceptable and this has to be looked into very closely".
