Man dies after sustaining serious injuries in East Hull

Police have launched a murder investigation after a 35-year-old man died in hospital after sustaining serious injuries at a house in East Hull.

Police were called to Lee Street on Tuesday after an altercation at the address between two men known to each other.

A 58-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident before being released on bail pending further enquiries.

A post-mortem on the cause of Kabelo Sam Mokoena's death is due to take place in the coming days to establish the cause of death.

Detective Chief Inspector Tony Cockerill, who is leading the investigation, says: "I would like to express my sympathy to Kabelo’s family at this sad time.

"We have specially trained officers actively supporting them as part of the wider investigation and keeping them informed of developments.

"My team are speaking to residents in the area to establish the full circumstances that led to Kabelo sustaining his injuries, whilst also providing community reassurance. I would urge anyone with information that is pertinent to the investigation to get in touch and support us with our enquiries."
