Hornsea residents discuss minor injuries unit alternative

The Hornsea community's working on plans for a volunteer run alternative to its minor injuries unit which is due to close at the end of March.

Mayor Anne Padgett led a meeting, following news MIUs in the East Riding will be replaced with urgent care centres in Beverley, Bridlington and Goole.

She says: "We had some people from First Responders and first-aiders who are more than prepared to offer a service. The problem is we need a venue and we need to make sure we're properly insured which we're looking into at the present time."

Plans for a community bank were also discussed after it's been revealed the two remaining banks in the town will close in June.

Talks are underway for a Credit Union to be opened in the town.
