Chief Constable to consider possible rural policing cuts

Friday, August 31st 2012 15:00

Opening hours of front-desk police station counters could be cut under proopsals for rural policing.

New proposals, yet to be considered by the Chief Constable of Humberside Police Tim Hollis, suggest cutting the time that front counters are open in more rural stations across the county.

It's part of a review into the force, prompted by significant budget cuts.

Humberside Police say the public demand for the stations in question has been measured, and any cuts will be in line with that demand.

They've also strongly denied reports that Driffield and Beverley stations would be closing completely.
